Hi,
You've probably noticed that I'm not making as many 3D Rendered images as I used to in the past.  Well I'm having trouble with my eyesight.  I'm told that it is an acute case of eyestrain.  I've been forced to take to photography in order to get away from my computer screen.  It's painful to even wright this entry.  I have to match the light (being emitted from my monitor) with the light in the room.  I can work on Photographs because they only take a few minuets to produce versus a 3D rendering that can take upwards of five to twelve hours.  My doctor doesn't want me even doing that, but I've got to create something or I'll go nuts!  I'm going to ask someone to take over my group because the members deserve more than I can give right now.  Sorry.

Submission Rules

The Submission Rules:

1. This group is all about the ships of Star Trek. No matter how good your art is, we will decline anything that is not a. Star Trek b. exterior view a ship. That means no portraits of Spock or bridge scenes.

2. The minimum size is 720 pixels on the smallest side. Example 800x600 is too small. While 1024x768 is okay. We need to see your work. We need to see the detail. That can't be done with smaller resolutions.

3. The submitted art must have artistic merit. No hand drawn doodles, poorly painted or rendered art will be accepted.

4. NO CUT SCENES OR SCREEN CAPTURES from video games or movies! At the very least, it takes no skill to preform this task and at the worst, it is a violation of copy right! Just as a warning, we will not only decline your submission, but also turn you in for copy right violation. So please no movie screen captures!

Here is how it works. The Contributors will vote. Four votes yea and your submission will be accepted or four votes nae and your submission will be declined. The Founder and Co-founders can accept or decline a submission with only their single vote.

While anyone can become a member, if you are interested in becoming a Contributor, you must meet the following guide lines.
1. You must be an artist with an established portfolio.
2. You must have several (ten or more) images with Star Trek as the theme. It would help if they were of Ships, but if you are a very good artist, we wont turn you away.

Hello?

hi, I'm a relatively new deviant posting drawings of Star Trek ships, but I'm not sure if I am allowed to join because of this.

Do do the posts have to be 3D?

You, first, have to be a member of our group to submit your work.  And I should say that this group is only for advanced artists.  You are welcome to follow us,  but your work will have to substantially improve you can become a member.  But, to answer your question:  Yes, 99% of the submitted work is 3D.  We do consider hand-drawn / painted work, but the work would have to be very, very good.  I should say that there are lots of groups for all skill levels, and you should be able to find a home for your work.

Ah, I see. Thanks anyways.

Also, any idea on how to start building the ships in the first place.

(I'm talking about which section of the ship to start on first. Ex. Secondary hull, "saucer" section, etc.)

Not necessarily; 2D images are welcome, but I recommend you read the rules of our group for more clarity :)

Ah, so no drawings? Cause there's more than one way to Interpit the "no hand drawn doodles" rule.

The rules are posted on the front page.  In order to be a member of our group, you must be an artist and have a portfolio of at least a dozen original, individual Star Trek images.  In addition, the images must be of high artistic value.  I'm sorry but your portfolio doesn't meet those requirements.  It's nothing personal, but when the group was created we decided that membership would be for artists only.  You can still follow the group and get updates in your mail.
Thanks,
Glen
